The modular 10' x 10' translucent box made out of an eco-resin material is launching its statewide tour in the Brown Center’s Leidy Atrium from Aug. 31 to Sept. 22. Titled "EmPOWER MARYLAND, You Owe It to Yourself," the information station is a participatory experience where the users will interact with the space and calculate a personal savings number representing how much money they can save by 2015 based on energy-efficient behavior.
After a successful branding campaign for EmPOWER MARYLAND, the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) asked MICA’s Center for Design Practice to continue the project. The campaign, designed to educate and inspire Marylanders to reduce energy consumption statewide 15% by 2015 and to live more sustainable lives, will now travel to eight college campuses across the state as a mobile information station designed by the MICA students. Not only does the project disseminate valuable information to target audiences, it also becomes a valuable data resource for the MEA as it assesses and develops new energy programs.
