Counternarratives: Performance and Actions in Public Space

Students in the Exhibition Development Seminar (EDS) at the Maryland Institute College of Art are pleased to present Counternarratives: Performance and Actions in Public Space. On view in MICA’s Decker Gallery from February 2 through March 11, 2018, this collaborative exhibition highlights significant performative actions from 1955 to the present through a global timeline installation and the commissioning of new performances in local public spaces.

Reception: February 15 from 5-7 p.m.

EDS students will be offering tours of the timeline prior to the reception and during the reception.

At 4 p.m. on February 15 "Baltimore: A Hotbed for Social Activism," will highlight actions and performances in the timeline that pertain to our city.

At 4:30 p.m. on February 15 "Global Dialogues: Bodies in Action," will take us through a grand global and historical tour of performatic bodies in public space.
