Graduate Lecture: Jennifer Coates

Internal MICA: Open to all MICA students, faculty and staff

Jennifer Coates is a painter living in New York City. She has recently had a solo show at Freight & Volume Gallery called “All U Can Eat” and at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts called “Carb Load.” She teaches at the New York Academy of Art and SUNY Purchase. She was the recipient of the Stewart/MacMillan Endowed Chair in Painting at MICA in 2015-2016. She has also written art criticism for Time Out NY, Art in America and The Brooklyn Rail, among others. Her first article, “The Goo of Paint: How Every Mark Matters,” was published in Modern Painters in 2016.
