North Avenue Knowledge Exchange

Spend time this summer and fall exploring workshops that bring the many communities along North Avenue together to learn through art, social justice, design and creativity.  Events run through December 31st, 2017. Visit to register for a free course or to propose your own course.

The North Avenue Knowledge Exchange is an educational program focused on building sustainable relationships that strengthen and learn with the communities along North Avenue. This justice-oriented, community-based education seeks to build on the agency of grassroots organizing and the existing beauty and knowledge within Penn-North, Station North, and Greenmount West. Guided by the principle that everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn, the Knowledge Exchange aims to connect community members with access to city-wide and community-based resources by bringing together key neighborhood stakeholders to vision, build, and sustain this information-sharing network.

The North Avenue Knowledge Exchange is a partnership among Maryland Institute College of Art, Red Emma’s Bookstore Coffeehouse, and Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc., that builds on the Baltimore Free School as a way to strengthen this community-wide network of grassroots education and information sharing.
